It provides excellent performance in the areas of lubricity, sealing properties, make-up/break-out torque, and long-term corrosion protection during periods of storage. 318 OCR Modified contains no metals which may create a corrosive atmosphere thereby eliminating galvanic corrosion while making 318 OCR Modified the ideal product for today’s stringent environmental concerns. 318 OCR Modified is recommended for application to threads
being hydrostatically tested. 318 OCR Modified is manufactured using components that meet or exceeds the listed performance objectives in API RP 5A3/ISO 13678. 318 OCR Modified meets the objective for eliminating hazardous materials in the workplace as presented in OSHA Communication CFR 1910.1200. 318 OCR Modified is high temperature and high pressure rated and contains corrosion and H2S inhibitors to eliminate thread corrosion, pitting and to provide extended protection to tubular threads. Note: 318 OCR Modified is not recommended for rotary shouldered connections.
In use for years now, 318 OCR Modified has provided excellent results for pipe storage, downhole service, and hydrostatic testing. This triple servicing ability assures you of a safe, effective, and economical way to meet all your casing, tubing, premium connections and line pipe thread compound needs.
BENEFITS:
▪ Conforms to API RP 5A3/ISO 13678
▪ Friction Factor 1.0
▪ Environmentally acceptable
▪ Non-hazardous thread compound
▪ High pressure
▪ High temperature
▪ Engineered for triple service hydrostatic testing, pipe storage, and downhole services
▪ Superior performance on API 8-round, buttress, and premium metal-to-metal seal connections
APPLICATION:
318 OCR Modified is for application to casing, tubing, premium connections, and line pipe.
TYPICAL OBSERVATIONS:
Color: Black
Texture: Grainy
Specific Gravity, at 77°F (25°C): 1.16
Flash Point, ASTM D-92: >400°F (>204°C)
Temperature Range: 0°F to >500°F (-17°C to >260°C)
Shelf Life (unopened container): Four years
API RP 5A3/ISO 13678:
Dropping Point, ASTM D-2265: >500°F (>260°C)
Evaporation, % loss 24 h at 212°F (100°C): Pass
Gas Evolution, cm3 120 h at 151°F (66°C): Pass
Oil Separation, % 24 h at 212°F (100°C): Pass
Penetration, ASTM D-217 worked at 77°F (25°C): 310–340
Mass Density, lb/gal at 77°F (25°C): 9.66
Water Leaching,% loss 2 h at 151°F (66°C): Pass
Application & Adherence, 2 h at 0°F (-18°C): Pass
Compound Stability: Pass
Corrosion Resistance, ASTM B-117: 2000+ hrs
Copper Corrosion, ASTM D-4048: 1A
Friction Factor, API RP 5A3 Annex I: 1.0（2025-07-28）

Liquid-O-Ring 318 OCR Modified Metal-Free Thread Compound is a superior thread compound for casing, tubing, premium connections, and line pipe.
