Shell acquires working interest in Ursa platform
Shell completed the previously announced agreement to increase their stake in the Ursa platform in the US Gulf of Mexico from 45.3884% to 61.3484%. This acquisition is part of Shell’s strategy to invest in profitable and carbon-competitive oil and gas projects with a strong integrated value chain.Deepening Shell’s interest in existing assets also contributes to maintaining stable liquids production from its upstream business. Shell is the operator of Ursa Tension-Leg Platform and holds a 61.3484% working interest ownership in the asset with BP Exploration & Production (22.6916% WI) and ECP GOM III (15.96%).(2025-05-01)
Prairie begins completion of Opal Coalbank Pad
Prairie Operating Co. is beginning completions of the Opal Coalbank project, which spans two distinct DSUs and is currently in partial development, leveraging nine drilled but uncompleted (DUC) wells acquired from Bayswater.This phase of the project is focused on unlocking immediate cash flow through the completion of the existing DUCs—targeting six in the Codell and three in the Niobrara B. ReconAfrica has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (“ANPG”) for a joint exploration project in the Etosha-Okavango basin, located onshore in southeastern Angola. BP makes oil discovery in US Gulf of Mexico
BP announced an oil discovery at the Far South prospect in the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico. Both the initial well and a subsequent sidetrack encountered oil in high-quality Miocene reservoirs. Preliminary data supports a potentially commercial volume of hydrocarbons.BP drilled the exploration well in Green Canyon Block 584, located in western Green Canyon approximately 120 mi off the coast of Louisiana in 4,092 ft of water. The well was drilled to a total depth of 23,830 ft. The Far South co-owners are BP (operator, 57.5%) and Chevron (42.5%).BP expects to grow its global upstream production to 2.3 – 2.5
