SLB OneSubsea awarded EPC contract for Equinor’s Fram Sør project
SLB’s OneSubsea joint venture was awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Equinor for a 12-well, all-electric Subsea Production System (SPS) in the Fram Sør field, offshore Norway. The award follows a collaborative, year-long Front-End Engineering Design phase, where Equinor and SLB OneSubsea jointly matured the project, culminating in the development plan and final investment decision (FID).As part of the resulting EPC scope, SLB OneSubsea will deliver four subsea templates and 12 all-electric subsea trees, eliminating the need for hydraulic fluid supplied by the host platform and keeping topside modifications to a minimum.“Fram Sør marks the first large-scale
Equinor makes oil and gas discovery near Troll field
Equinor and partners have struck oil and gas in the Fram area, 9 km north of the Troll field in the North Sea. The discoveries were made in exploration well 35/11-31 S in production license 090.One exploration well has encountered petroleum in two reservoirs. One of the discoveries consists of both oil and gas, while the other one is just gas. In total, the resources are estimated at between 0.1 and 1.1 million standard cu m. The reservoir properties are assessed as moderate to very good. The preliminary name of the discovery is F-South.“These are discoveries in an interesting area
Tampnet to deliver updated comms stack to Island Innovator
Tampnet secured a five-year contract with Island Drilling AS to supply a complete, next-generation communications stack for the harsh-environment semisubmersible Island Innovator. The service includes low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellite back-haul from Starlink and OneWeb, integrated with the Tampnet North Sea LTE and T-FAST (Multiple Carrier, Low Footprint, High Speed Antenna) microwave/fibre backbone.Combining this with an AI-driven orchestration layer that automatically routes each packet over the optimal path, the fully managed private 4G/5G network delivers seamless mobility and digitalization across the entire rig.“A well-connected rig is no longer a nice-to-have; it’s the backbone for remote operations and data-driven decision-making,” said Trygve Hagevik,
Aker BP makes oil discovery in Yggdrasil area
Aker BP has completed its Omega Alfa exploration campaign in the Norwegian North Sea, resulting in a significant oil discovery that adds substantial new resources to the Yggdrasil area. The recoverable volume is estimated at 96–134 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe). The campaign had five exploration targets – Omega, Alfa, Alfa South, Sigma NE, and Pi – through a multilateral well located west of Yggdrasil. In July, Aker BP preliminarily reported a discovery of 20–40 million boe from two of these targets. Following the completion of the campaign, the combined recoverable volumes have increased to 96–134 million boe.Drilling operations began
