Eni makes gas discovery in Kutei Basin, Indonesia

Eni announced a gas discovery in the Konta-1 exploration well, drilled in the Muara Bakau PSC in the Kutei Basin, about 50 km off the coast of East Kalimantan in Indonesia. Estimates indicate 600 billion cu ft of gas initially in place (GIIP) with a potential upside beyond 1 trillion cu ft.Konta-1 was drilled to a depth of 4,575 m in 570 m water depth, encountering gas in four separate sandstone reservoirs of Miocene age with good petrophysical properties that have been subject to an extensive data acquisition campaign. Muara Bakau is part of the 19 blocks, 14 in Indonesia

Block Energy outlines Project III farm-out plan in Georgia

Block Energy received a non-binding farm-in offer from a major energy company that would carry a full appraisal program across the Patardzueli–Samgori area of Project III in Georgia. The proposal follows extended technical work between the companies and outlines a multi-well sequence of re-tests, sidetracks and reservoir data acquisition. The appraisal scope includes three historical well re-tests (two targeting the Lower Eocene and one the Upper Cretaceous) along with two highly-inclined sidetracks aimed at the Lower Eocene reservoir. Plans also call for data-gathering and well-testing operations to refine the development model. In parallel with the appraisal work, the offer includes support for

Equinor makes new North Sea discoveries

Equinor made two new discoveries of gas and condensate in the Sleipner area of the North Sea. The wells were drilled by the Deepsea Atlantic rig, which will move to the next exploration well in the area. License holders are Equinor (60%) and Aker BP (40%).The two wells, Lofn and Langemann in production license 1140, are located between the Gudrun and Eirin fields. Preliminary estimates indicate that the reservoirs may contain between 5 and 18 million standard cu m of recoverable oil equivalents, corresponding to 30–10 million barrels. The production license was awarded to Equinor in 2022 through the Awards in

Wood awarded brownfield EPC scope in Trinidad

Wood’s joint venture company, Massy Wood, was awarded the engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and commissioning contract associated with the topsides brownfield development of BP’s Juniper platform, as part of the Ginger development located off the coast of Trinidad.Massy Wood will deliver detailed brownfield engineering and execute critical topside upgrades on the Juniper platform. The scope includes enhancements to subsea pipeline corrosion protection and the integration of methanol injection systems, enabling safe well startup and flexible operations.(2025-12-04)

ADES secures new contract for jackup in Brunei

Through its wholly owned subsidiary Shelf Drilling, ADES secured a new contract for the Compact Driller standard jackup with Brunei Shell Petroleum. The contract has a term of two years. The jackup will be deployed to perform plug and abandonment (P&A) operations at offshore Brunei. The estimated contract value is approximately $63 million. The Compact Driller is expected to begin operations in Brunei in Q4 2026 and will undergo contract preparation activities in Singapore ahead of the commencement. Arrow advances Mateguafa drilling with M-6 startup, new horizontal well

Arrow Exploration drilled the Mateguafa 6 well in the Tapir Block and placed it on production from the Carbonera C7 formation. The well was spudded on 8 November and reached 10,000 ft measured depth on 15 November. Arrow holds a 50% beneficial interest in the Mateguafa Attic field in Colombia’s Llanos Basin. The well was drilled on time and on budget and encountered multiple hydrocarbon-bearing intervals. Arrow completed M-6 in the C7, where it logged about 18 ft of net oil pay. The clean sandstone interval showed average porosity of 20 percent. The company perforated the zone and ran an electric

D-Tech rolls out OmniSteer rotary steerable platform

D-Tech commercialized its OmniSteer rotary steerable platform following field deployment that exceeded 1 million ft drilled across multiple basins over a decade. The OmniSteer platform integrates the RSTConnect surface software with updated downhole mechanical design. The system architecture allows operators to test, calibrate and monitor tool performance in real time. Features include AI-based analytics, real-time downlink mapping and autonomous closed-loop steering to reduce downlink times and improve directional control.Downhole upgrades include redesigned steering assemblies, improved hydraulics and wear-resistant components to extend service life. The platform’s configurable design supports high-dogleg trajectories, geothermal wells and high-temperature environments. Firmware updates provide additional stick-slip mitigation

Dolphin Drilling wins 120-day extension for Blackford Dolphin

Oil India Limited has exercised its option to extend the contract for Dolphin Drilling’s ultra-deepwater semisubmersible rig Blackford Dolphin. The extension covers an additional 120 days of operations through 10 May 2026 and includes drilling, testing and abandonment work at locations east of India. The extension builds on the original campaign of three wells over approximately 14 months, awarded in March 2024. The amended scope retains the same rate and contractual terms as the previous agreement, underscoring the existing operational framework between the parties.(2025-11-21)
