DeepOcean awarded UK subsea tie-back contract
Ocean services provider DeepOcean has been awarded a contract to provide subsea construction and tie-in work at a subsea field development on the UK continental shelf. The field is being developed as a subsea tie-back to an existing host facility.DeepOcean’s scope of work includes the installation of a flexible production riser and flowline and an umbilical connecting the host facility to the subsea Christmas tree. The scope also covers the protection of the flowline and umbilical, as well as the commissioning of the newly installed infrastructure.Offshore operations will be executed in two phases: subsea construction and tie-in activities initially, followed
Petrobras discovers oil in Sudoeste de Tartaruga Verde block
Petrobras confirmed an oil-bearing interval in the post-salt section of the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil, in the Sudoeste de Tartaruga Verde block. The exploratory well, designated 4-BRSA-1403D-RJS, is located roughly 108 km from the coast of Campos dos Goytacazes in a water depth of approximately 734 m.The drilling has been completed and confirmation of the interval was made using electrical logs, gas shows and fluid sampling. The collected samples will be sent for laboratory analyses in order to characterize the reservoir and fluid conditions and support further evaluation of the block’s development potential.Petrobras is the operator of the block with
Saipem launches smart harness for workers at height
Saipem introduced the LiSa Hyper Harness, a sensor-equipped safety harness designed to monitor how workers connect to fall-protection systems during operations at height. The device detects missing or incorrect connections and emits an acoustic warning similar to a car seatbelt alert. It also transmits a notification to a supervisor for follow-up.The LiSa Hyper Harness was designed by Saipem and developed with two Italian partners: Confezioni Mario De Cecco, which supplies personal protective equipment and will distribute the harness commercially; and R13 Technology, a technology startup and academic spin-off.Production is underway, and Saipem plans to deploy the harness across its worksites.
Northern Ocean extends Deepsea Mira contract for additional well test
Northern Ocean amended its contract with Rhino Resources to include an additional firm well test for the semisubmersible Deepsea Mira. The extension adds 28 days to the firm term, with the new work scheduled ahead of three existing optional wells.(2025-11-13)
TotalEnergies takes operatorship of new offshore exploration block in Guyana
TotalEnergies (40%, operator) and its partners QatarEnergy (35%) and Petronas (25%) have signed a production sharing contract for Block S4 with Guyana’s Ministry of National Resources, following the block’s 2023 award in the Guyana 2022 Licensing Round.Block S4 is a 1,788 sq km block located about 50-100 km from shore. The initial work program consists of a 2,000 sq km 3D seismic acquisition.(2025-11-12)
SLB launches agentic AI platform to enhance upstream workflows
SLB introduced an agentic artificial intelligence platform, Tela AI, designed to automate and optimize upstream energy workflows. The system uses multi-agent collaboration to perform complex technical tasks across drilling, reservoir management and production optimization. Tela AI enables faster decision-making by combining domain expertise with adaptive AI agents that learn from real-time data. The technology has been deployed in early pilot projects to support subsurface modeling and well-planning operations, demonstrating improved efficiency and reduced turnaround times.SLB plans to expand Tela AI applications across its digital platforms as part of ongoing efforts to accelerate autonomous and data-driven operations in the field.(2025-11-11)
Staatsolie, PETRONAS, Chevron sign PSCs for Block 9 & Block 10
Staatsolie signed Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) for offshore Blocks 9 and 10 offshore Suriname with the operators PETRONAS (Block 9) and Chevron (Block 10). PETRONAS will serve as the operator alongside partners Chevron, QatarEnergy and Paradise Oil.By signing these PSCs, the companies obtain the exclusive rights for exploration, development and production in the respective blocks. The initial phase of the exploration period will last three years, during which the focus will be on acquiring and processing 3D seismic data to map the subsurface structure. The blocks are located in the shallow water area approximately 50 km from the coast of Saramacca.
ConocoPhillips advances Otway Basin exploration drilling program
ConocoPhillips Australia is progressing plans for a multi-well exploration campaign in Commonwealth waters of the Otway Basin, offshore Victoria and Tasmania. The Otway Exploration Drilling Program covers permits VIC/P79 and T/49P.Up to six wells are approved under the program, with the initial two expected to be drilled by late 2025 using the Transocean Equinox semisubmersible. Each well is anticipated to take 30-40 days to complete, with a maximum duration of 90 days to allow for weather and operational delays. The campaign will include seabed surveys ahead of drilling to confirm safe anchor locations, as the rig will be moored in water
