Saipem awarded offshore $1 billion EPCI contract in Indonesia

Saipem and partner PT Meindo Elang Indah were awarded an offshore EPCI contract by BP. The contract is part of an integrated project known as Tangguh UCC Project comprising Ubadari field development, enhanced gas recovery through carbon capture, utilization and storage (EGR/CCUS) and onshore compression operated by BP and located in Papua Barat Province, Indonesia. The value Saipem’s share amounts to approximately $1 billion. The Tangguh UCC project encompasses the production of natural gas resources from the Ubadari offshore field and its transportation to the onshore LNG plant where it will undergo a CO2 separation process. The captured CO2 will then

Weatherford Single-trip casing exit system delivers efficiency improvements

Last year, Weatherford launched AlphaV, a whipstock system designed to eliminate the need for sidetracking during casing runs. The system utilizes a shear bolt to release the milling assembly from the whipstock once the assembly is set, eliminating the risk of premature shearing while running in hole. In this interview with DC from the 2024 ADIPEC on 6 November, GT Iversen, Global VP – Intervention Services, Drilling Tools and Subsea Interventions at Weatherford, discussed the technology and the efficiencies the system generates during casing runs. He also spoke about the results that operators like Equinor have seen in areas like

SLB launches Stream high-speed intelligent telemetry for drilling complex wells

SLB launched Stream high-speed intelligent telemetry that is designed to overcome the bottlenecks and limitations of conventional mud pulse telemetry. Stream combines AI algorithms with SLB’s TruLink survey-while-drilling service. This provides uninterrupted, high-speed, high-fidelity real-time subsurface measurements with no data limitations, regardless of depth, in even the most challenging conditions.“For complex well profiles, transmission has been a huge bottleneck for the data volumes being generated downhole, often constraining drillers to work with a limited picture of the reservoir,” said Jesus Lamas, president, Well Construction, SLB. “Capitalizing on advanced AI algorithms in telemetry eliminates these restrictions, enabling optimal drilling decisions for

Weatherford secures three-year contract with ADNOC

Weatherford has been awarded a three-year contract for the provision of rigless services as part of the reactivation of ADNOC onshore strings. The project is slated to begin in Q4 2024. Weatherford is expected to deploy multiple intervention solutions, advancing the operational efficiency and reliability of ADNOC’s onshore assets. The contract enables ADNOC to maximize well productivity while minimizing downtime and operational risks. Weatherford will deploy technology designed to enhance wellbore integrity, streamline reactivation processes and optimize reservoir performance.(2024-11-08)

Trillion Energy provides update on SASB velocity string installation

Trillion Energy provided an update on the velocity string installation program at the SASB gas field in the Southwestern Black Sea. Currently, 2-3/8” production tubing (velocity string or VS) is being run into the Guluc-2 well. The VS are being installed with the objective of reducing water loading issues in the SASB gas wells. On 27 October the snubbing unit was positioned over the Akcakoca-3 well where 2-3/8” VS was run into the well through the existing 4-1/2” tubing. The operation was completed on 29 October. The well continued to flow throughout the operation.Following the VS installation, Akcakoca-3 production increased from

Panoro infill well goes onstream offshore Equatorial Guinea

Panoro Energy’s C-45 infill well has been put onstream by the Block G operator, Trident Energy, at an initial gross rate in excess of 5,000 bopd on a restricted choke. This is the first of two planned infill wells at the producing Ceiba Field and Okume Complex and was drilled with the Noble Venturer drill ship to a total depth of 3,148 me, encountering good quality oil saturated reservoir sands in an un-swept zone of the Ceiba field.Drilling of the second planned infill well, OF-19, at the Okume Complex has now concluded and the well is expected onstream shortly.Panoro holds a

TotalEnergies discovers new gas condensate resources in offshore Harald field

TotalEnergies’ Harald East Middle Jurassic nearby exploration well (HEMJ-1X) discovered additional gas condensate resources in the Harald field, in the Danish North Sea.Located in shallow waters 250 km off the west coast of Denmark, the HEMJ-1X well was drilled in the Eastern part of Harald field and encountered 48 meters of net gas condensate pay in a good quality reservoir. The HEMJ-1X well will be immediately connected to the Harald platform and is expected to start producing before the end of the year through the existing Harald and Tyra facilities.TotalEnergies is the operator of the Danish Underground Consortium with a 43.2%

Vår Energi unlocks barrels in the Balder area

Vår Energi and Kistos Energy reached the final investment decision for the Balder Phase V project in the Balder area of Norway. The project will develop 33 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) of gross proved plus probable (2P) reserves for capital spend of $690 million gross. Drilling will commence in the first half of 2025 and be complete in 2026, with the first wells coming onstream by the end of 2025.Balder Phase V involves drilling of up to six infill wells using all the remaining available template well slots in the existing Balder subsea facilities and tied back to the
